FINANCIAL Services Minister Ryan Pinder wished students and parents of the Elizabeth constituency which he represents, a safe and successful start to the new school year.
Meeting with young people in the area ahead of the first day of school, Mr Pinder said: “A good education forms the base of the future development of our students, and ultimately the future development of our country.
“We as representatives of our community must encourage and support our area schools, and the students in our particular constituencies.”
In preparation for the new school year, Mr Pinder prepared and donated school packages to area churches and held an Elizabeth back to school jamboree on Saturday, August 25, where hundreds of packages were distributed.
He said: “In addition to donating school supplies, I also believe it is important as the children return to school that they also understand the importance of safety and preparedness.
“In conjunction with the Elizabeth back to school event held Saturday, NEMA, the Red Cross and the Fire Department gave the students a presentation on the issue of emergency management and hurricane preparedness.”
