Landlord's plea

EDITOR, The Tribune.

PLEASE allow me space in your prestigious newspaper to express my opinion. I have run out of options and done all that I can, now I am praying that your paper will be able to assist me. I am a landlord on the island of Eleuthera and I would like to ask the government to please change the way landlords are paid by teachers on Family Islands, especially foreign teachers.

It would be wise for them to put the money to the landlord's bank account or pay through the Administrator's Office rather than putting it on the teacher's account to pay the landlord themselves. This has posed a problem because some of the teachers use the money for their own personal use and become delinquent in their rent. I have tried to get my money but there is so much bureaucracy that you just give up and just let them win.

I have contacted all the necessary persons in the Ministry of Education with promises of them calling back and they never return your call. What am I to do?

I assume that the government does not mind money being misappropriated from them because they could afford to give the people's money away just like that.

I pray that this is allowed in your paper and I thank you in advance.

O JOHNSON

Landlord,

Evict them! If someone is not paying their rent, throw them out and look for another tenant.

Man we really need to stop going to our government for everything. Throw them out and get another tenant...

The allowance is a part of their employment package, their employer can't tell them what to do with it. And, the employer cannot touch their money.

Evict them and move on...
