No way to run an election

EDITOR, The Tribune.

ON Saturday, May 5, the leader of the Democratic National Alliance advertised in the press that the DNA were to hold a cook-out celebration starting at 1pm, concluding with a speech by the leader.

At 5.30pm my wife and I left for Mass at Sacred Heart Church. Upon returning home after mass, we found that Bay Street was blocked and therefore turned through Nassau Street where we ran into many Free National Movement persons dressed in their red T-shirts and then Progressive Liberal Party persons.

It was not safe for anyone as we saw a person jump from an FNM truck with a bottle of rum so assumed it was a drunken mob. After 35 years of Independence, have we not learned to handle elections yet?
