In response to Sharon Turner’s Tom Foolery

EDITOR, The Tribune.

I trust this letter comes at a good time when there is space enough to permit my response to Sharon Turner’s Tom Foolery. It seems as though ever since the Bahamian electorate dropped that mean defeat on the Free National Movement, Sharon Turner grabbed her lap top, hit the bushes in hiding and has been writing stories, as in tales, ever since. She has a blog on Facebook that seems to amuse many and infuriate many FNMs and PLPs alike. Her blog this week attacks PM Perry Christie for not “disclosing” contents of a report from consultants on gambling that she says doesn’t exist and she also accuses PM Christie of wanting only to do business with a few web shops. As like writer, Oswald Brown, my suspicions tell me her words are those of another hiding behind her pen but what I want Ms Turner to tell the world is that the same “chosen” web shops she refers to are the same ones that PM Christie met in discussions with the former FNM government when he took office in May of this year. I dare her to say I am wrong. Yes I said it, the same web shop coalition that the FNM was negotiating with is still in place. And, furthermore, the issue in this country has always been buying numbers. Very few Bahamians have interest in gambling in a casino, they want to play numbers therefore the question for the upcoming referendum is geared only towards web shops. With all due respect Ms Turner, this is grown folks business. Maybe you need to understand a little more about current issues before you attack the country’s chief. It is what it is and he leads us for the next five years. Accept it, digest it and move on. Today gambling! Tomorrow something else! One thing at a time, Ms Turner and please remember, everyone wins– just not the FNM.
