A terrifying experience

EDITOR, The Tribune.

I am, a concerned citizen, whose experience this morning had me fearing for my life! I want to share a terrifying experience with the Bahamian people.

I was heading to work on Eastern Road at about 8:30am on Thursday, November 15, 2012 when I came head on with a police car transporting prisoners to the court. A police car was leading the brigade and ran me straight off the road. I feared for my life! My heart nearly beat out of my chest. They drive at such an absurd speed and they left me no choice but to nearly drive into a wall.

I’m one of many innocent bystanders who have been affected by this insane method of transporting prisoners to and from the courthouse. What message does this send to our people – that the police and government are happy risking the lives of the innocent for that of the condemned? There must be a safer means of transporting prisoners without endangering the lives of innocent people.
