On the referndum

EDITOR, The Tribune.

How is it that political parties can acknowledge they have accepted money from "number house" owners and there seems to be very little or no public/religious expression of revulsion and disgrace. An illegal business is just that, an illegal business.

The political parties should set the example showing they are not benefitting from illegal proceeds by not accepting any contributions from them. Bahamians, in general feel this is a moral issue and not harmful to society as a whole. Parliament should therefore retroactively amend the necessary Act(s) to legalise the "number houses" and then political parties receipt of illegal proceeds would be legal. No need for a Referendum.
