BAHAMAS CRAWFISH SEASON GETS UNDERWAY

The 2014 Crawfish season in the Bahamas has got off to a promising start.

Reports coming from the southern islands, such as Ragged Island, are of good numbers of catches and the same goes for Abaco in the north.

It also appears that even Nassau got in on the action as the amateur “weekend warriors” were said to be filling their coolers to capacity. The season opened last Friday and runs to March 31 next year.

I was under the impression that only 10 crawfish are allowed per sportfishing boat per day, unless you have a commercial permit. Who can clarify this for me?

Foreigners are restricted to 10 crawfish per boat. (or supposed to be!)

There's no limt for us as long as the tails are longer than 5.25inch and no egg-bearing females.

Thanks for the clarification, Hogfish!
