IMPROVING efficiency through effective records management training is expected to reduce errors and enable public service agencies to use organised information to meet obligations and complete business transactions without delay.
Forty-six women from various government ministries and departments joined the Ministry of the Public Service and its Public Service Centre for Human Resource Development at the opening of the Records Management Training Workshop, in the Summer Winds Plaza on Tonique Williams Darling Highway. The seminar will end February 26.
Ophelia Cooper, Director of Training, said the Human Resource Department has been given a mandate to train clerical officers and supervisors in records management throughout the public service.
She said the overall objective is to provide practical exposure to a cadre of senior officers and supervisors to establish an E-Registry in any organisation.
“The course is four weeks in duration and consists of theory integrated with an extensive practical component,” said Ms Cooper.
“The management and maintenance of records is key to any organisation, therefore its employees should be exposed to continuing education in this area. The first group of officers represent a cross section of the Public Service and will be considered the nucleus of this new trend in the organisation.”
