Bahamas, Kalik join relays sponsor family

THE national flag carrier and the beer of the Bahamas have been named official suppliers of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Relays Bahamas 2014.

Lionel Haven, local organising committee managing director, said the LOC is proud to welcome Bahamasair and Kalik into the growing sponsor family.

Mr Haven said that it is great to have two additional strong global brands on board with the upcoming inaugural event set for May 24–25.

Under this partnership, Bahamasair has guaranteed some round trip travel for local junior Bahamian athletes during both the test event, May 9-10 and the Bahamas 2014 High School Relays slated to begin one hour before the actual IAAF World Relays.

Kalik Beer has also committed to the World Relays at the national supplier level. “Bahamasair and Kalik bring with them a long track record of support for sports and their expertise and passion will be beneficial in the run up to, and duration of the event,” Mr Haven said.

“Both companies will play a pivotal role in keeping the event moving and joins a growing list of companies that are helping to make the event world class.”

Adding to that, it’s essential to work with partners capable of delivering services of the highest quality, Mr Haven said.

The success of the ticket launch, the volunteer programme and the other partnerships, allows the LOC to achieve a memorable event experience for all, he said.

Van Diah, deputy general manager of the Bahamasair Commercial Division, said the airline’s management and staff realised that it was vital that the national flag carrier play a pivotal role in transporting participating local athletes from The Family Islands into Nassau and to also facilitate air transportation to incoming athletes, friends and avid track supporters to the event and to the beautiful shores of The Bahamas.

“Bahamasair salutes The Government of The Bahamas, the BAAA and all other organisations for their hard and diligent efforts in attracting the track world to The Bahamas. The airline remains committed to performing its role in the development of future Bahamian athletes and the recognition of The Bahamas as a premier sporting arena for all sporting disciplines,” he said.

Nico Pinotsis, managing director of Commonwealth Brewery Limited, said: “Commonwealth Brewery Limited, through its brand Kalik, The Beer of The Bahamas, is proud to partner with the IAAF World Relays Bahamas 2014. We view this partnership as one of our continued commitments to the area of sports and development for The Bahamas.”

Two weeks ago the LOC unveiled its first four national suppliers, RBC Royal Bank and RBC FINCO, Bahamas Waste Limited, PharmaChem Technologies (Grand Bahama) Limited and The Bahamas Electricity Corporation (BEC).

With the signing on of Bahamasair and Kalik this brings the total amount of national suppliers to six.

To date, the first three national partners already signed on for the event are Atlantic Medical, Caribbean Bottling Company Limited through Coca-Cola and John Bull. Mr Haven said more and more businesses are coming on board and expressing interest to sign on to be a part of this exciting and historic event.
