Faction against Minnis

EDITOR, The Tribune.

There seems to be a faction of the Bahamian community which is of the opinion that the leader of the Free National Movement, the Hon Dr Hubert A Minnis, is not of the calibre worthy of leading the party to victory during the next general election.

Would you allow me to brand as irrelevant whether I am of the same opinion or not?

What is relevant, though, at least with me, is that Dr Minnis is willing to lead the way. I admire him for that.

You and I well know that there is no shortage of detractors of those in leadership positions.

But, the volunteers to seek after the top job in any country, organisation, company or club are very few and far between, including the most vociferous of critics.

It is easy to criticise, but exceedingly harder to “do”.

And so, might I suggest to the individuals of this faction that if it is their belief that Dr Minnis is not the right man for the job at this juncture, then it is incumbent upon them to cause the necessary machinations to be initiated so that after all is said and done, they would have risen to the top of the party.

Then, it would be time to “do” and not just “say”.
In the final analysis it is time to “Put up or shut up!”

Man please. He has had 2 1/2 years. His performance is mediocre at best. To oppose this weak PLP government is a gift one that Minnis has yet to exploit. He is weak as leader of the opposition so why would we want him back? Especially considering the government of the day. Opposition should be slam dunking the hell out of the PLP every single day...

Minnis is a rich, affable guy but he does not inspire the average person to pay attention to his message. In Bahamian politics he can win a safe seat but he cannot lead a party and win a general election. He lacks that "star" quality ............ charisma
