The Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC) has partnered with Baha Mar to provide mobile services for its thousands of guests through the installation of a multi-million dollar Distributed Antenna System (DAS) covering the entire property.
Executives from both companies signed the five-year exclusive contract on August 21, making BTC the provider of telecommunications services that will deliver 2G, 3G, CDMA and LTE coverage property-wide.
Coverage will include all hotel floors, inclusive of elevators, basements, the Convention Centre and the Golf Clubhouse.
Leon Williams, BTC’s newly-appointed chief executive, said: “This partnership is more than connectivity; it demonstrates BTC’s commitment to the national development and the economic advanment of the Bahamas.
“Baha Mar is one of the leading luxury resorts in the Caribbean, and one of our goals at BTC is to deliver first-world technology that will satisfy the needs of visitors who desire un-interrupted connectivity even while basking on Baha Mar beaches.”
Baha Mar’s president, Tom Dunlap, said, “Baha Mar is pleased to have BTC provide their extensive telecommunications services to the property. We are looking forward to the many applications that this partnership will bring in the years to come.”
Gershan Major, BTC’s vice-president of corporate sales and business development, said BTC has been collaborating with Baha Mar over the past year to tailor the DAS infrastructure design to meet the four-hotel property’s needs. The network will cover 2,300 rooms and 300 residences.
“This deal represents over a year of focused and disciplined team work by BTC in securing a major opportunity with Baha Mar, the largest single phase and most exciting resort development in the Bahamas to date,” Mr Major said.
“Our work with the Baha Mar team has been an amazing journey, and a deep learning experience for all who participated in this opportunity, and we look forward to deploying a state of the art, first class solution to enhance the Baha Mar guest experience.”

Ah well. Guess Bahamar does not need internet services for it's guests. A deal with BTC? Wow.... They can't even give proper cell coverage... Bad move I'd say. Should have left it open til BTC gets competition.....

Forget it. First off BTC sucks donkey balls, you can't even get a call most of the time. Second, how in the hell is Baha Mar one of the leading luxury resorts in the Caribbean when the thing is not even close to open yet, jumping the gun, I would say. Third, did i mention that BTC sucks donkey balls as soon as competition comes i am jumping ship. Fourth, if Baha Mar wants to be first class, BTC is not going to cut it, not by a long shot. Fifth, did I mention that BTC sucks donkey balls.
