POLICE officers in the Orlando, Florida area arrested eight juveniles and one adult – who are from The Bahamas – last week after they were caught allegedly stealing clothing from a Wal-Mart.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, police in Lake County arrested the group last Thursday.

The newspaper reported that the group was “allegedly caught sneaking out of a Clermont Wal-Mart with duffel bags full of men’s clothing”.

The items, according to an arrest affidavit, were worth $422, the newspaper reported.

Police in Florida went to the store around 1pm on the day in question.

The newspaper said a store security officer told police the nine individuals had “stuffed duffel bags with merchandise and had paid for some items but not others”.

“The officer also said group members had been surrounding the cart, as if to conceal it from view, and were ‘looking around’ suspiciously, authorities reported.”

The group was stopped as they were leaving the store. One of the teens resisted arrested and knocked over a deputy’s Taser, according to the report.

The eight juveniles were charged with felony retail theft of more than $300. The adult, Donte Deveaux, 19, is facing the same charge, the Orlando Sentinel reported.

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Deveaux, of Guinep Tree Street in Nassau, has been released on a $2,000 bond ahead of his court appearance on September 15.

All nine listed addresses in The Bahamas, the newspaper said.
