STUDENTS at the Anatol Rodgers High School yesterday received 20 brand new Dell computers as a part of a nationwide computer drive conducted by Island Luck.
The presentation was made by Island Luck CEO Sebas Bastian to Principal Myrtle McPhee and other Anatol Rodgers officials in front of a packed gymnasium of students.
“They were definitely in need of this type of equipment,” Mr Bastian said at the presentation. “We had a chance to tour their computer labs. They had about seven computers, very little books, and we thought that this was the perfect place to start the new year off right with Anatol Rodgers.”
A brief Junkanoo celebration was held in the gym shortly after Mr Bastian made his remarks.
Mrs McPhee said the donation was an “excellent gesture” by Mr Bastian.
“We are delighted that he would have chosen Anatol Rodgers amongst all of the other schools in this country to donate the computers to,” she said. “We are also very delighted that he has chosen to partner with us to enhance the quality of education here at the school.”
According to Mr Bastian, the company will be moving “very rapidly” throughout New Providence and the Family Islands as they conduct their giveaways. However, he said, schools in dire need of computers and other necessities such as books need only reach out to the company in order to benefit from the giveaways.
“We’re not turning away anyone,” he said. “Not just government schools, even private schools. At the end of the day we want to reach the kids and education is our number one goal in pushing our Island Luck initiative. It’s all about the year of the Es: educate, empower and earn, and that’s what we’re promoting so far this year in terms of our initiatives.”

I do not think the Christian council will like this at all. but maybe they should come together and donate some computers.
