It is safe to say that all well-thinking people would agree that approving a second telecommunications company for The Bahamas, thus bringing competition and better service and lower prices, is good for all.

So, why the delay?

There is no doubt that the Bahamas Electricity Corporation (BEC) needs to be restructured to lower electricity costs for all.

For years it has been recognised that Bay Street had to be reborn with defined planning parameters and regulations.

So, why the delay?

Also, for years it has been a shame on our country that all citizens were not equal under the Constitution so gender equality legislation was needed.

This column will not comment on the delays at Baha Mar because one of my companies is involved in litigation with the resort. However, suffice to say here again there are delays.

These are just the prominent cases of delays but I am sure the readers know of many more of which I am not aware.

Recently, Frankie Wilson spoke of a 20-year delay to which his Cotton Bay development in Eleuthera was subjected.

It may be a cliche but it’s true ... time is money.

That being so, Bahamians are paying a huge price for these delays.
