JONQUEL Jones, the Bahamian who has won multiple awards while at George Washington University, will play professional basketball for the Connecticut Sun next season after being picked in the Women's NBA draft on Thursday night.
Picked sixth by the Los Angeles Sparks she was immediately traded to the Connecticut Sun in exchange for Chelsea Gray and the Sun's No.1 draft pick next year.
"Got to adapt and make changes," Jones said to laughter moments after getting dealt.
Buddy Hield, her fellow Grand Bahamian who will be a top pick in the NBA draft, tweeted "Word can't explain how I'm so proud of @jus242 #6th pick in the WNBA draft. All those days in the hot sun really payed off #Congrats"
