A FREEPORT Container Port worker was seriously injured in an industrial accident at the port this week.

According to reports reaching The Tribune, the employee sustained multiple injuries when a crane elevator he was in fell to the ground.

The man was rushed to Rand Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Details are still sketchy, and a spokesman for the company could not be reached up to press time.

It is not known whether the man was a contract, temporary, or permanent worker. It is understood that contract workers are not provided with insurance/medical benefits by the company.
