THE president of a local sporting club yesterday urged Bahamians to support the Never Give Up Walkathon and Souse Out, which seeks to aid two girls in their fights against life-threatening illnesses.

Daria Adderley, president of Elite Soccer Bahamas, yesterday called on Bahamians from all walks of life to support eight-year-old Zion Knowles and 13-year-old Ravyn Deveaux in their battles against leukemia and Stevens-Johnson Syndrome respectively.

The walkathon is scheduled for Saturday, April 2, at the Bahamas Football Association’s (BFA) soccer facility at 6.30am. A souse out will also be held from 8am to noon, during which chicken and sheep tongue souse will be sold for $10 and $12 respectively.

“As a country and as a community any young child that is in need, we as a community should try and assist regardless of age, sex, orientation, who their parents are or what background they have,” Ms Adderley said. “The youth are our future, and if we don’t assist them then we as a people will fail in all respects with regards to assisting our youth.”

People interested in supporting the girls can register at all Dairy Queen locations on Saturday, March 26, or online through elitesoccerbahamas@gmail.com. For more information, visit the Facebook pages of Never Give Up Walkathon and Elite Soccer Bahamas.
