WHISTLE-BLOWER OR ORCHESTRATOR?

EDITOR, The Tribune.

I have been following the news lately and I noticed that first Senator Michael Pintard was being painted as a whistle-blower whose only public charge was not going to the local authorities with the information he had uncovered. Now he’s being painted as the orchestrator of the entire incident when it’s clear from the tape and affidavit that he was being used as a mediator to help his client retrieve and validate the information that was being dangled and is now the centrepiece of a current lawsuit in the Supreme Court.

When did the cry and outrage over Mr. Pintard’s involvement turn from as The Tribune called it “uncovering” the plot to this new spin of orchestrating it. Yet in the meantime the accusations being levied at the door of Prime Minister Christie and the Deputy Leader Brave Davis continue to go unaddressed. The spin doctors of the PLP with a doctoral degree in the art of storytelling are circling the wagon and creating enough smoke that we are starting to believe there is a fire.

The legislation in the PSA bill is being removed from our laws, the new stem cell agreement has been pushed through the House of Assembly. This is quite curious seeing that these two items only serve the purpose of allowing Peter Nygard to finish what he started and continue to create his own piece of paradise within our shores with little to no governmental oversight. If the proof is in the pudding then this dessert should be named IOU Nygard.

We’ve seen this before, during the gaming referendum, when the people of our country voted NO for the legalization of the number houses. Yet Prime Minister Christie knew he had to go against the people, his people’s wishes, because of alleged promises made to his financial backers. So here we are again, at another crossroad, with the same stench in the air. Yet we now call for an understanding and a clear explanation from the messenger, the mediator, the arbitrator, instead of focusing on the message and the validity of those findings based on what we have experienced before and are currently seeing today.

I do not take my stance lightly with the proponderance of affidavits, videos, and records floating around. I take my stance based on what I’ve seen and continue to see from the governing party of our country. That is this, that BIG MONEY RULES. Rubis spill, report hidden for weeks, no clear plan or sanctions levied on Rubis, gaming referendum and the blatant disregard for the wishes of the people, and now the PSA bill and the stem cell research centres. I believe in following past patterns to predict future behaviour and a blind man can see the people are second to the money in our country.

Things in this my beloved country have got to change!
