Church clarifies false reports of FNM Thanksgiving service

SAINT Joseph Church has sought to clear up misinformation spreading on social media claiming the upcoming Sunday mass will be a Free National Movement thanksgiving service.

A statement from the church noted that while FNM Leader and Prime Minister Dr Hubert Minnis will attend the 10am mass, the service is for all parishioners.

“Social media has indicated that the 10am mass this coming Sunday, May 21, at Saint Joseph Church is a FNM mass of thanksgiving, nothing can be further from the truth,” the church noted.

“The 10am mass is the regular parish mass. Every mass is for the parish members and this Sunday is no exception. We shall celebrate the Sixth Sunday of Easter with the members of the parish.

“We welcome our prime minister and we thank him for his presence. But I make it very clear that our Sunday worship will be done in the usual manner and is being offered for the faithful.

“No special invitations have been sent out to anyone from the parish and members of Saint Joseph Church should note that the mass on Sunday is their mass and will be celebrated in the usual manner.”

The notice from Rev Monsignor Alfred C Culmer said visitors are also welcome to attend.
