Distributor defrauded of food supplies

A MAJOR food distributor has been defrauded of a “large amount” of food supplies.

According to the Royal Bahamas Police Force’s Press Liaison Office, five people were taken into custody on Wednesday “assisting police into an investigation where a major food distributor was defrauded of a large amount of food supplies during the month of October 2017”.

The investigation is continuing.

In February 2016, three men were charged with stealing over $24,000 worth of food from a major distribution company.

It was alleged that between November 2015 and January 2016 they stole “338 cases of Confidence chicken (whole), 67 cases of beef oxtail, 39 cases of lamb carcass, 49 cases of chicken wings, 79 cases of shrimp, cases of diced fries, 120 cases of crinkle cut fries and ten cases of lamb chop loin” belonging to Bahamas Food Services.

The items had a combined value of $24,154.17. The allegations were denied.
