A BAHAMIAN man and 11 undocumented Haitian migrants were apprehended in waters near Grand Bahama on Sunday.

The group was discovered onboard a vessel some 18 miles east of Lucayan Harbour, according to the Department of Immigration.

Reports are that sometime around 2.30pm on Sunday, officers of the Immigration Department, assisted by officers of the Royal Bahamas Police Force in Grand Bahama, acting on information received intercepted the vessel, with nine Haitian males and two females.

Adhering to all health and safety protocols in the execution of their duty, the officers arrested and detained the migrants, along with one Bahamian male. They were brought to shore for processing and screened by Ministry of Health personnel.
