13 marines complete technical training course

THIRTEEN marines from the Royal Bahamas Defence Force were recognised after completing their technical training course last month.

As a result of the 12-week training conducted at the RBDF base, the marines have prepared themselves in the various technical specialisations to perform routine maintenance, repairs, and service RBDF fleet and buildings.

Led by Petty Officer Renaldo Farquharson, instructor, they were trained in mechanical, electrical, hull, radio and air-conditioning and mechanical courses. The Base Engineering Department, which is an essential area of the force, responds to the great demands of operational deployment.

During the brief graduation ceremony, Captain Glenn McPhee, acting captain of the Coral Harbour base, congratulated the participants. He also expressed confidence that because of their training, the operational capabilities of the RBDF fleet are in great hands.

The graduating class includes marine mechanics: Andre Rahming, Deneiro Campbell, Quron Rolle, Jeremiah Farrington, Deonta Coakley, Ryan Lewis, Anwar Lockhart, Stephon Russell, Rudy Stubbs, Jermaine Johnson, and Ricardo Knowles. The lone female participant was Woman Marine Shonique Thompson.

The successful candidates were presented with certificates for their achievements at the conclusion of the ceremony.
