The Bahamas Association of Compliance Officers (‘BACO’) focused on cyber security when it delivered its first lunch and learn webinar via Zoom last Thursday.
The event, held under the theme, Cyber security management, the governance, risk and compliance (GRC) perspective, featured a panel of speakers. They included Rosena Duncanson, senior manager of risk advisory at Deloitte & Touche; and Samuel Wilkinson, financial and compliance consultant, Lydda Trust. The event was moderated by BACO public relations chairperson, Derek Smith Jr.
Maria Dorsett, BACO's president, said: “We chose this very important and relevant topic considering the COVID-19 pandemic, which has impacted many business operations and undoubtedly increased cyber security threats. BACO is resolute in providing quality learning opportunities for our members and the governance, risk, and compliance community in general.”
The virtual meeting attracted almost 200 participants representing governance, risk and compliance professionals from a cross-section of industries. Panelists tackled both technical and non-technical aspects of cyber security and information security while reinforcing the role the compliance officer must play in governance and overall risk management, including cyber security risk management.
BACO's executive vice-president, Endric Deleveaux, said money laundering reporting officers (MLRO) day will be held on November 5, 2020.
