A 31-year-old man was remanded to prison yesterday charged with setting fire to another man’s home last month.
Toriano Johnson was charged with arson after he was accused of setting fire on November 4 to a ten-room single-storey stone structure owned by Troy Johnson.
Prosecutors alleged the accused caused $35,000 worth of damage when he set fire to the home.
Due to the nature of the offence, Johnson was not required to enter a plea and the case was adjourned to March 1 for service of a voluntary bill of indictment.
As a result, he was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.
However, he has a right to apply to the Supreme Court for bail.
