A MAN and a teenager were charged with murder yesterday in connection with a stabbing that left another man dead following an argument after a car accident last week.

Jonathan Griffin, 21, and a 17-year-old male appeared before Deputy Chief Magistrate Andrew Forbes charged with the death of Andrew Sturrup on February 2.

According to initial police reports, shortly after 6pm police were called to a scene at the junction of Palm Tree Avenue and Fifth Street. Upon their arrival, they found a male lying in the street unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police initially said the altercation occurred after a car accident.

During the hearing neither defendant was required to enter a plea and the matter was adjourned to March 24 for service of a voluntary bill of indictment (VBI).

Due to the nature of the charge, they were denied bail and remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until that time.

Griffin and the teenager have a right to apply to the Supreme Court for bail.
