A CUSTOMS broker was arraigned yesterday over allegations she stole and defrauded more $1.8m from Cable Bahamas over a 12-month period.

Precious Moxey-Miller, 34, a customs broker for Simply Shipping Solution, appeared before Magistrate Kendra Kelly facing 114 fraud-related charges for her alleged actions between January 2018 to February 2019.

The charges included 35 counts of falsification of accounts, 33 of uttering a forged document, 26 of fraud by false pretences and 20 of stealing by reason of service.

Officers allege that between January 2018 and February 2019, the accused stole over $480,000 from Cable Bahamas, of which she had custody by reason of service.

It is further alleged that between those same dates, she obtained a total of $1,321,510.17 from Cable Bahamas Ltd situated on Old Trail Road by means of false pretences.

She is also accused of uttering several false Bahamas customs forms and making numerous false entries on the forms, purporting to show the bill of lading was consigned to Cable Bahamas knowing the same to be false.

Moxey-Miller pleaded not guilty to all of the offences read during yesterday’s proceedings.

Her case was adjourned to today at 10am for a hearing on the remaining charges.

Magistrate Kelly told the accused she will remain in custody at the Nassau Street Police Station.

Moxey-Miller is being represented by attorney Kenyatta Gibson.
