THREE male teenagers were remanded in custody yesterday for endangering the lives of three police officers with a gun. Jeffrey Toussaint, 19, and two 17-year-old boys.
appeared before Magistrate Kara Turnquest-Deveaux. All three faced three counts of possession of a firearm with the intent to endanger life.
On July 24 in New Providence, the defendants are alleged to have endangered the lives of Cpl Pedrio Hield, PC Anton Forbes and WPC Bradnique Adderley with a handgun.
Due to the nature of the offence, none of the defendants were required to enter a plea. The magistrate informed them that their case would proceed by way of Voluntary Bill of Indictment (VBI).
The three defendants were also told of their right to apply for bail through the Supreme Court, where their trial will ultimately be heard.
Until such time that bail is granted, all three will be remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services (BDCS). They are expected to return to court for service of their VBIs on November 23.
