New NIB board to focus on fund sustainability

THE newly appointed National Insurance Board held its inaugural meeting at NIB headquarters, with the government outlining priorities that include the long-term sustainability of the National Insurance Fund, investment diversification and improved collections.

The meeting, held at the Clifford Darling Complex on Blue Hill Road, was chaired by newly appointed chairman Michelle Pindling-Sands.

Minister of Labour, Public Service and National Insurance Pia Glover-Rolle addressed the board and outlined the government’s strategic priorities for NIB.

These include ensuring the long-term sustainability of the National Insurance Fund, diversifying investments, strategically developing NIB’s real estate portfolio and modernising its technology.

The government is also seeking improvements in workforce development, organisational strengthening, employee productivity and accountability, industrial relations, policy and legislative reform, and collections.

Shakera Johnson serves as deputy chairman of the new board.

Other board members are Lisa Turnquest, Tim Ingraham, Theressa Thompson, Amancha Williams, Rozalia Bowe, Dwayne Woods, Avrom Thompson and Suzette Moss.

NIB director Dr Tami Francis and members of the organisation’s executive team also attended the inaugural meeting.

The new board will oversee NIB’s operations and strategic direction during its tenure.
