CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico (AP) -- Mexican authorities say 10 people have been killed during a shootout among gunmen in the country's north.
Prosecutors in the border state of Chihuahua say the gun battle happened earlier this week in the town of Temosachi, about 210 miles southwest of Ciudad Juarez.
They aren't saying if any of the victims found are members of organised crime gangs.
Gunmen
Authorities say gunmen hiding in nearby hills attacked police investigators when they arrived at the scene.
However, no casualties occurred and the gunmen escaped.
Chihuahua state is across the border from Texas.
The area has seen a spike in violence as the Sinaloa and Juarez drug cartels fight over control of lucrative smuggling routes.
