BAHAMIAN forensic accountant, John Bain, has been selected to participate in a defining webinar hosted by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) to develop the organisation's integrated report, part of a pilot program initiated by the International Integrated Reporting Committee (IIRC). Mr Bain, the first Bahamian elected to the ACCA's International Assembly, has been chosen as a member of a small group of ACCA International Assembly representatives invited to participate in the webinar, which was organised to outline high-level issues the organisation has identified as being of greatest importance to its 140,000 members in 170 countries. The IIRC, in its new approach to corporate reporting, aims to establish a globally-accepted reporting framework that allows for direct linkage between an organisation's strategy, governance and financial performance, and the social, environmental and economic context within which it operates. It is a move that could impact how thousands of organisations report everything from revenue to achievements in a comparable way, permitting at-a-glance review. Mr Bain has served as chair of the e-professional session of ACCA's International Assembly, its annual meeting in 2011. In his capacity as an International Assembly representative, Mr Bain represents Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, the Bahamas, Belize, Bermuda, Brazil, the Cayman Islands, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Curacao, Dominica, Ecuador, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Guatemala, Haiti, Mexico, Montserrat, Netherlands Antilles, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent, Turks and Caicos, Venezuela and the Virgin Islands. The winner of the 2007 ACCA Achievement Award for the Americas, Mr Bain helps attorneys, individuals and companies involved in civil litigation matters that involve financial crimes, disputes over shares, partnerships, debt or other financial issues. As the principal of JSB & Associates, a boutique firm of chartered and forensic accountants in Nassau, he works with some of the top Bahamian law firms. His findings have been pivotal in civil and criminal legal matters.
