THE Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA) has announced its sponsorship of Special Olympics Bahamas this year.
The Special Olympics Bahamas is an organisation dedicated to allowing equal athletic competition opportunities for individuals who have intellectual disabilities, in an effort to ensure "that they are able to participate as productive and respected members of society at large."
BICA is the regulatory body for the accounting profession in the Bahamas, and comprises over 500 members and 280 licensees.
It encourages all persons who have passed a professional accounting qualifying examination to apply for membership. Some of the benefits of being a member of BICA include the ability to network with accountants from different sectors in the profession, mentorship of young accountants, discounted seminars and access to technical training in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
