BSF names Team Bahamas for Carifta

The Bahamas Swimming Federation (BSF) ratified the Bahamas' 36-member swim team for this year's Carifta Swimming Championships - scheduled for April 12-15 in New Providence. The event, sanctioned by FINA, is a qualifier for the London Olympics. Algernon Cargill, president of the BSF, named the team. The best age-group swimmers (boys and girls) in the Caribbean are expected to go head-to-head over four days of exciting competition. The BSF selected the top swimmers following the final trials at Betty Kelly Kenning Aquatic Centre over the weekend. "We have ratified an excellent team of young people who are all committed to representing the Bahamas at home," he said. "The team is comprised of a variety of veterans and first time and returning swimmers and we expect great things from this team. "We continue to encourage corporate Bahamas to step forward and provide assistance to the federation to host this event in the Bahamas." Teams from Antigua & Barbuda, Aruba, Barbados, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Dominica, French Guyana, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Guyana, Jamaica, Martinique, Netherland Antilles, St Lucia, St Kitts & Nevis, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago, Turks & Caicos Islands, British Virgin Islands and the US Virgin Islands are expected to compete. While the swimmers were not identified in their age group or the events they qualified for, the following were named to the team: GIRLS Celica Campbell, Jasmine Gibson, Margaret Higgs, Keitra Lloyd, Zoe McCarroll, Megan Reid, Tremaine Allen, Lesle Campbell, Joanna Evans, Doran Reed, Simone Sturrup, Andreas Weech, Alaena Carey, Bria Deveaux, Abigail Lowe, Laura Morley, Je'Nae Saunders and Taryn Smith. BOYS Miller Albury, Clement Bowe, Nicholas Rahming, Joshua Roberts, Alec Sands, Drew Bastian, Dionisio Carey, Farion Cooper, Gershwin Greene, Zach Moses, Meshach Roberts, Evante Gibson, Anibal Hernandez-Valdes, Keith Lloyd, Matthew Lowe, Toby McCarroll, T'Auren Moss and Dustin Tynes.
