Car crash as shooting victim is rushed to hospital

TWO CARS were involved in a collision last night outside Doctors Hospital on Shirley Street amid reports that one of the cars was rushing a shooting victim to receive medical help. The collision took place at about 9 o'clock last night between a Honda and a Hyundai, one of which was travelling along Shirley Street and the other entering Shirley Street from Christie Street. Reports from the scene said that the Honda was rushing a man to hospital who had been shot multiple times when it collided with the Hyundai. Police confirmed that a man had been shot earlier in Step Street, Fox Hill, but there was no further information available at the time of going to press. The accident saw one of the cars sent sliding into a local power line, sending showers of sparks down onto the road. Another car, which had been following the Honda to the hospital pulled up, and its passengers lifted the victim into the vehicle and rushed him on to Princess Margaret Hospital. It appeared that no one suffered serious injuries in the crash. Police closed off the road for at least two hours following the accident, diverting traffic around the scene. The Tribune was awaiting confirmation from the police over the events at the time of going to press. * For up-to-date details and more breaking news, visit www.tribune242.com.
