CITIBANK (Bahamas) yesterday confirmed it had laid-off several employees, a bank executive telling Tribune Business it was part of its "ongoing efforts to control expenses".
At least eight employees were reportedly laid-off, but Rose Ferguson, public affairs officer for Citibank (Bahamas), did not confirm how may employees had been let go.
She informed Tribune Business in a brief e-mail response yesterday that: "As part of our ongoing efforts to control expenses, we are making targeted head count reductions in certain businesses and functions across Citi."
Citibank, which has had a presence in the Bahamas since 1960, and boasts a private bank and corporate bank client base of more than 3,000, is one of several banks to let go employees this year.
