CALVARY Deliverance Church is set to host top cardiologist Dr Conville Brown, who will present on the topic "Combating Heart Disease" on March 7 at 7pm. The initiative is part of the church's ongoing agenda to introduce congregants and members of the surrounding communities to topics of universal importance. Heart diseases are the number one killers of persons, not only in the Bahamas, but around the world. Recent statistics furnished by the Ministry of Health show cardiovascular illness to be the leading cause of death in women between the ages of 45 and 65 years old. It is believed that the Bahamian diet, which is predominantly rich in saturated fat, is one of the main causes. A lack of regular exercise is also blamed for the high number of heart related diseases in the country. Dr Conville Brown, MD, MBBS, FACC, is the founder and CEO of the Medical Pavilion Bahamas, which specialises in performing comprehensive executive physical examinations within the space of four to six hours. It is expected that at the end of his presentation, Dr Brown will take questions from the audience. Refreshments will follow.
