FREEPORT - The man who was recovered from waters off Eight Mile Rock has been officially identified as 60-year-old Eddie Cambridge of Russell Town, police reported.
Cambridge and another man, both of Russell Town, Eight Mile Rock, were out fishing in an 18ft canoe on December 31 when it capsized near the shore.
As the men were swimming to the shoreline, Cambridge disappeared under the water.
The second man, a 51-year-old resident of Russell Town, made it to shore and alerted police that Cambridge was missing at sea.
A search was launched by Police, BASRA and the Defence Force. The body was later recovered from waters at Hanna Hill, Eight Mile Rock.
Police are still awaiting the results of an autopsy report on the cause of death.
