Standing outside of Princess Margaret Hospital's Rand Laboratory, the family refused to speak to press, only confirming who they were. Police did not officially identify the alleged suicide victim, although sources say he was a 26-year-old American. According to police, the victim was a passenger on board Carnival's Fantasy Cruise Ship. The ship was docked at Prince George Wharf late Friday evening when he reportedly jumped from one floor of the ship to another. As a result, he suffered serious injuries and was declared dead at the scene. Carnival issued a statement following the incident, saying a guest fell. It also said the ship's visit to Freeport, which was scheduled for the following Saturday, was cancelled as investigations into the matter continue. The ship left Charleston, South Carolina last Wednesday for a five-day Bahamas cruise. The ship is still scheduled to return to Charleston on Monday. This incident marks the second alleged suicide aboard a cruise ship for the year. Earlier this month, a 25-year-old crew member of the Royal Caribbean Cruise's Monarch of the Sea also allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the vessel. That incident took place six miles from the port of Nassau on January 12.
