Four shot, one dead in nightclub shooting

By CELESTE NIXON Tribune Staff Reporter cnixon@tribunemedia.net THE Luna nightclub was the backdrop for a violent attack over the weekend, when a shooting left one man dead and three people - including a 17-year-old girl - in hospital. Bringing the murder count to 28 for the year, the shooting happened outside the nightclub in West Bay Street at around 3am on Sunday. The Tribune has confirmed the identities of two of the shooting victims, however the police have requested that their names be withheld to protect their safety. According to initial reports, a 20-year-old resident of Cumberbatch Alley died after being shot. A man believed to be in his mid-20s is listed in critical condition, and a 19-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl are in stable condition. In January 2011, Canadian tourist Mitchell Nini was stabbed multiple times after attempting to intervene when his friend was robbed near the nightclub. Mitchell, 22, of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, was stabbed after chasing after the culprit who ripped the necklace off his friend, reported to be the son of a local politician.
