HOLOCAUST survivor Rena Finder will give a first-hand account of her horrific experiences and subsequent salvation in Nazi-occupied Germany at the Sheraton tonight. Ms Finder will be sharing her harrowing story for the first time in the Bahamas as she continues to work to maintain awareness of the Holocaust and genocide. The plight of Ms Finder and fellow survivors and the bravery of German industrialist Oskar Schindler inspired the Steven Spielberg film Schindler's List. The Academy Award winning film immortalises the lives of Holocaust survivors employed by Oskar Schindler during World War II. Mr Schindler used his wealth and influence to save the lives of 1,300 Jewish men, women and children. Ms Finder will recount her childhood in Poland, the Krakow ghetto, life in the Nazi death camp Auschwitz and ultimately her story of survival in Schindler's factory. Ms Finder, an only child, remained with her mother and father as enemies of the state for months in the Krakow ghetto, where Jews were tortured while concentration camps were being constructed. Her father was later taken away and never heard from again. Ms Finder has said that she and her mother were spared because of Mr Schindler. The film will be screened at 2pm. Ms Finder's first-hand account of her experience as a Holocaust survivor will begin at 6.30pm.
