LIGHTBOURNE Marine has wrapped up the final leg of its 5th annual Wahoo Challenge with a well-attended awards ceremony at The Green Parrot, East Bay Street.
Thanks to Greg Graham, Robert Wells, Peter Maury, the staff and management of The Green Parrot, the anglers and their families enjoyed delicious fresh Wahoo dinners prepared in true Bahamian style, along with live entertainment.
The results were in and 43' Ryco, team "Rook", captained by Teddy Pratt, had done it again.
Not only did they win the first leg on December 10, 2011, with 169.8lbs of Wahoo, they also took first place in leg 2 with 213.6lbs.
Along with bragging rights, captain Teddy Pratt, Devon Gibson, Andoni Lisgaris and Alex Cartwright all took home stunning handcrafted trophies, unique marine art and a Mercury 10' inflatable boat with 9.9hp Mercury engine valued at $6,000 for being the overall tournament champions.
The runner-up for leg 2 in the overall standings was Scott Kelly onboard 60' Viking "White Rat", with 157.6lbs weighed and an overall weight of 243.3lbs.
Robert and Barbara Wells, onboard 45' Cabo "D' Fish N' Seas," came second in Leg 1 and third in Leg 2, securing a third place spot in the overall scoring.
Rachel Lightbourne, tournament director and IGFA representative for Nassau, said the event "may have been slightly slower than the previous leg in December, but the heaven-sent gorgeous weather made fishing with your friends and family so much more fun."
Both legs had 12 boats participate and each one brought large crowds of spectators to Hurricane Hole, Paradise Island, for the weigh in.
Lightbourne Marine would like to send a special thanks to The Green Parrot, Bahamas Wholesale Agencies, Sands Beer, Graham Real Estate, Contrax, Panama Jack, Basil Goulandris and all the participants who make the tournament possible each year.
