Man bailed over fraud allegation

By LAMECH JOHNSON Tribune Staff Reporter ljohnson@tribunemedia.net A FOX Hill man is on bail after he pleaded not guilty to using a popular restaurant's account to defraud a local bank of more than $5,000 last December. Shervaughn Watson, 35, of Springfield Road, was granted the bond yesterday morning when the prosecution offered no objection, revealing the accused had no previous brushes with the law. It is claimed that on December 9, 2011, Watson used counterfeit cheques drawn on the account of Senior Frog's to obtain money from four branches of Scotia Bank Bahamas Limited: Malborough Road, Wulff Road-Jerome Avenue, East Bay Street and the main branch on Rawson's Square. He allegedly obtained a combined $5,187.33 from the four locations. The accused denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty. The matter was adjourned for trial to May 4. Magistrate Guillimina of Court 10, Nassau Street is presiding over the case.
