Doyle Burrows (in bottom photo) and "golden girl" Eldece Clarke (in top photo) were inducted into the Central American and Caribbean Athletic Confederation on Sunday.
The induction at the Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort, West Bay Street, was done by CACAC president Victor Lopez of Puerto Rico.
Present at the ceremony were Mike Sands, president of the Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations, and Minister of Tourism and Aviation Vincent Vanderpool-Wallace.
Burrows has been involved with athletics in the region for more than 50 years, having been one of the founders of the Pioneers Sporting Club in 1960 and a member of the 1962 Central American and Caribbean Games team where he participated in the pentathlon.
He was the manager of numerous Olympic Games and World Championships teams including the 1999 Seville World Championships team and 2000 Sydney Olympic Games team.
He also specialized in facilities, having been the manager of the Queen Elizabeth Sports Centre in Nassau from 1978 to 1993. Burrows continues to make contributions to sports in the region.
Clarke began her participation in international track and field competition at the Carifta Games in Bermuda in 1980 when she won the bronze medal in the under-17 division of the 100m.
Twenty years later, after having retired for five years, Clarke was a member of the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games winning 4x100m relay team. She retired from running after the latter edition of the Olympics.
