A 23-YEAR-OLD man was found dead, bound and gagged in what police are describing as a "execution style" killing.
In one of two murders on Wednesday night, the body of Akyto Samuel Smith, of Faith Gardens, was found riddled with bullets in the trunk of a car.
Police say officers on routine patrol on Sir Milo Butler Highway noticed a suspicious vehicle parked hard against a wall just south of the Shell Service Station.
During a search of the vehicle they popped the trunk and found the body. He is said to have been shot at least six times.
Police believe he was in the trunk for only a few hours as rigor mortis had just begun to set in.
Supt Stephen Dean said police have no suspects or motive for the murder.
However, The Tribune understands Mr Smith was lured to the area under false pretenses.
A source claimed the victim was told to meet a man in the "Haitian Village" who wanted to buy some tyres Mr Smith had for sale.
He left home just after 9pm but never returned.
Police are also investigating the murder of 21-year-old William Felton Ewing, of Lockwood Bend, Malcolm Allotment.
Mr Ewing was found lying in the street off Malcolm Road East just after 11pm.
A woman called police to say she heard gunshots outside her home and thought a man had been shot.
When officers arrived they found the lifeless body of Mr Ewing. He had been shot in the head twice.
Supt Dean said: "We are following several lines of inquiry and we have some leads. We are actively investigating these homicides. I am optimistic that we will be in a position very soon to identify suspects in both of these murders."
Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them on 919, the Central Detective Unit on 502-9991 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 328-TIPS.
Last night, the country's murder count stood at 17.
