BAHAMIAN talent is being represented in a big way in New York this weekend, as two aspiring models and one singer take part in Brooklyn Fashion Week.
The three Bahamians – 2009 Supermodel of The Bahamas, Garrecka Johnson, Top Model Anwar, Mackey and 2011 Super Talent of the Bahamas winner, Shawndell Gardener – have had a busy week in the Big Apple, doing interviews on Irie Jam Radio and attending fittings, rehearsals and test shoots.
The Brooklyn Fashion Week, which started on Thursday and ends tomorrow, features the fall/winter 2012 ‘B Fashion” runway show; it showcases the top emerging designers in the fashion industry, including local, national and international designers.
The runway shows features eco-friendly designers, ready-to-wear and couture designers.
The four-day event’s daily schedule also includes a red carpet celebrity VIP reception, a cocktail reception and silent auction.
The three young Bahamians booked for the fashion week serve as presenters at the event.
All three are represented by OilinSha Coakley, proprietor/manager of OilinSha's Models & Talent, and founder of the events Supermodel of the Bahamas and Super Talent of the Bahamas Organisation.
During Brooklyn Fashion Week, the Supermodel and Super Talent of the Bahamas will release the recorded
single "Standing Confusion" featuring Super Talent of the Bahamas 2011 winner Shawndell Gardener; produced by John W Gaitor and Mr Coakley.
The single will be available on iTunes and stores in September.
