Off-duty policeman shot in leg

AN off duty police officer was shot in his leg yesterday afternoon in Nassau, prompting police to take into custody a "significant number" of men.

Police are also investigating two other Grand Bahama incidents which left two men hospitalised.

Around 2.30pm in Nassau, yesterday, the off-duty officer was at a residence on Sapodilla Boulevard in Pinewood Gardens when occupants of a silver coloured Honda Accord approached him.

It is reported that a conversation took place between the man and the officer which resulted in the officer being shot in his the thigh.

He was taken to hospital by EMS personnel where he is detained in stable condition.

Acting on information, following the shooting, officers of the Central Detective Unit and the Southeastern Division went to Nassau Village where they located a vehicle fitting the given description.

According to police reports, the owner of the vehicle, as well as a significant number of other men found in the area of the vehicle, were taken into custody.

Police are also investigating another alleged shooting.

Shortly before 11pm on Monday police were called to the Rand Memorial Hospital in Grand Bahama where they saw a victim who was suffering from gunshot wounds to his body.

The reported shooting allegedly occurred in the Watkins Lane area off Pioneers Way.

Police are also continuing their investigations into the Grand Bahama incident which left a 24-year-old Freeport man hospitalised in stable condition with stab wounds.

Police are investigation all the incidents and are appealing to Grand Bahama residents and other persons who were in the area at the time of the Freeport shooting to call 350-3107/8, 352-9774/5, or 911 with information to assist in the investigations.

Was just about to say, 'was May being the bloodiest month in recent history for the Bahamas the grand finale' of all this killing and mayhem going on for 5-6 years on this island" Is the tide of murder and violence going to subside and things return to the normal peace and quite?
