FREEPORT - Grand Bahama police are investigating the murder of a 38-year-old man who was shot during an armed robbery in the Garden Villas area over the Easter holiday weekend.
The man's death is classified as the fourth homicide of the year on Grand Bahama.
Police have not released the victim's identity, however the dead man is believed to be Willie Adams. The shooting is believed to have taken place at a reported gambling house.
According to police reports, sometime around 1.20am on Sunday officers went to a building in Hearn Lane, where a man was reportedly suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.
Asst Supt Loretta Mackey said the victim was taken by ambulance to the Rand Memorial Hospital, where he later died of his injuries.
Preliminary reports indicate that three armed men held up the man and several persons, ordering them to empty their pockets. During the robbery, the man was shot. The suspects robbed the victims of cash and their cell phones before fleeing the area.
ASP Mackey said officers of the Central Detective Unit were investigating.
