The return to professional boxing for one Bahamian fighter will be met with a formidable test when he faces a former Olympian for the vacant WBC Youth Super Middleweight Silver Title.
Wilson “Kid Wonder” Theophile is scheduled to meet Julius Jackson of the US Virgin Islands in the co-main event of “Boxing in Paradise V” in Saint Thomas, USVI, on April 25.
Theophile (8-3, 4 KOs) and Jackson (12-0, 8 KOs) will also vie for the WBC United States Super Middleweight title in the scheduled 10-round bout.
Theophile’s last professional fight was in April of 2007 when he lost to Kevin Finley. His last win came a month earlier in March of 2007 when he defeated Anthony “Kid Durant” in a second round TKO.
Other noteworthy wins on his résumé include victories over Elkeana Saunders, Ricardo Bethel and David Wallace.
The bout against Jackson will be Theophile’s first fight outside of the Bahamas in his career.
The undefeated 24-year-old Jackson last appeared in the ring in September of 2011 when he defeated Eduardo Mercedes by way of a second round TKO.
The card highlights three of the USVI’s top fighters and descendants of three time world champion and one of the hardest pound for pound punchers in boxing history, Julian “The Hawk” Jackson.
The headline match will feature knockout artist John Jackson (12-0, 11 KOs) defending his WBC Super Welterweight Youth World Title for the first time against the undefeated Jesus "Chino" Selig (14-0-1, 9 KOs) of Douglas, Arizona.
Also a 2008 USVI Olympic representative, the 23-year-old John and Julius are the sons of the Julian Jackson, while his nephew Samuel Rodgers will top the undercard.
Rogers (11-0 9 KOs), will defend his WBC FECARBOX Title for the very first time when he faces Durrell Richardson (13-4, 5 KOs) of Youngstown, Ohio.
Local USVI fighters will make up the remainder of the undercard while the country’s amateurs will precede the professionals as part of 340 Promotion's commitment to "Operation London 2012."
