THE British Colonial Hilton has seen a positive performance this year in all segments of its business, an executive telling Tribune Business that it had recently spent $1 million to improve its product offering.

Jermaine Wright, director of business development at the downtown Bay Street resort, told Tribune Business that the hotel had renovated all its smaller meeting rooms and added Wi-fi to the entire property.

Mr Wright said: "The entire hotel now has Wi-fi,, so Wi-fi is available in all of our guest rooms, meeting places, food and beverage outlets, and also the restaurants, so it's completely a Wi-fi property.

"In addition, we have renovated our smaller meetings rooms. As of December we upgraded our leisure facilities where we added beach bed cabanas. We have also released an application for the I-pad and I-phones earlier this year, and we are just waiting for it to be released on Blackberry."

Mr Wright said investment spending on the recent improvements totalled some $1 million, and was in addition to the $15 million spent on major renovations less than two years ago.

He said: "During that time we renovated all of the guest rooms, larger meetings rooms and food and beverage outlets.

"We have also recently launched a Hilton Beach club with private membership, where persons are able to take advantage of the leisure facilities, along with the new fitness centre which we have finalised plans for and should be available in the next several months."

Mr Wright, while declining to reveal exact figures due to hotel policy, said the British Colonial Hilton was having a great year.

He added: "Like many of the other Nassau properties, we are having a great year so far. Everything is positive. All of our segments, inclusive of group business, are performing well above expectations."
