THE two major parties spent the weekend accusing each other of making things up.

For its part, the FNM said the PLP's fancy new youth development plan is nothing but hot air.

While in office from 2002 to 2007, the PLP failed to deliver on any of its "lofty promises" to young people, and will only "double down" on this failure if elected, according to the governing party.

Specifically, the now opposition failed to: build a new TG Glover Primary School; build new schools in Grand Bahama, Andros, Exuma, San Salvador and Cat Island; create summer jobs for young people; build a national stadium; and introduce the University of the Bahamas.

The wish list is almost identical this time around, and there is no reason to believe the outcome will be any different, the FNM said.

The PLP meanwhile, is accusing the government of inventing fake scandals to blame on the opposition.

Perry Christie has vowed to sue Prime Minister Ingraham for claiming the PLP leader is mixed up with an oil company that wants to start drilling in Bahamian waters.

He said a PLP government will not allow drilling unless the people support it, and the claims he is a consultant for the Bahamas Petroleum Company are utter hogwash.

The FNM selling 51 per cent of BTC to foreigners - "even though it was clear to everyone in the Bahamas that the people were against it" - now that's a proper scandal in Mr Christie's books.

Not to mention the FNM "handing monopoly control" of the Nassau Container Port to a group of its friends, or giving hundreds of millions in contracts to foreigners while Bahamians sat on the sidelines, he said.
