FREEPORT – Three American boaters were detained off Bimini after authorities confiscated a firearm and ammunition.
According to reports, a team of officers from the Royal Bahamas Defence Force was on routine patrol around 5pm on Monday in waters just off North Bimini when they spotted a fishing vessel.
After boarding the vessel, the officers learned that it had not cleared Bahamas Customs. They discovered a pistol and a quantity of ammunition during the search.
The men, all residents of Florida, were detained and turned over to police.
